Public Engagement

Our public engagement philosophy, influenced by the International Association of Public Participation’s (IAP2) process, is comprised of a five-step approach.

Our services

01

Listen to the Community

We strive to deeply understand each community’s unique attributes. Our team interviews key stakeholders to uncover hot-button issues, risks, and opportunities to engage efficiently and effectively.

02

Make a Plan

Our detailed public engagement plans outline the process, tools, schedule, communications strategy, and more to guide your project’s success.

03

Make it Happen

Our team then handles all the logistics. We organize virtual and in-person engagement opportunities, including agendas, invitations, technology, and facilitation.

04

Facilitate Dialogue

Our specialized facilitation training allows us to expertly manage balanced discussions, disruptive participants, and contentious situations.

05

Showcase Results

Documenting the engagement process is as important as the activities. We’ll demonstrate how public input shapes the plan or project, builds trust, and listens to the community.

At Highland Planning, we take a holistic, long-term view in our work, considering our decisions and actions’ social, environmental, and economic impacts. Grounded in trust, collaboration, innovation, and sustainable positive impact, our approach embraces change and sees opportunity.

At Highland Planning, our passion for social good drives us to transform communities through creative public engagement, planning, and design strategies.

We listen to, design with, and transform communities through our work, helping governments and public sector agencies make better, more informed decisions that improve the quality of life for all. Our tagline, “Listen. Design. Transform.” encapsulates our approach and the impact we create.
